WHY THIS ONE

Four things that decide whether it gets worn all night

Toe splints are abandoned for one reason above all others: they were set too far on the first night. Everything below is about making the wearing part bearable.

A dial, not a fixed angle
The side dial sets how far the toe is drawn over, so you can start almost neutral and move a fraction at a time. Fixed-angle splints give you one setting and hope it suits you.
A hinge, so the foot still bends
The joint lets the toe flex as you move, which is what makes it bearable for a whole night. Rigid splints lock the foot flat and come off at two in the morning.
Either foot
Reversible, so one splint works on the left or the right. Sold singly β€” if both feet need one, add a second to the basket and the pair takes 10% off automatically.
Padded where it presses
A soft instep strap and a cushioned big-toe cuff. That is the difference between wearing it all night and taking it off because of a rub across the top of the foot.

HOW TO WEAR IT

Three steps, and start at almost nothing

  1. 1

Set the dial to almost nothing

Fit it with the toe barely drawn over. The temptation on day one is to set the correction as far as it will go, and that is exactly how people end up with a sore joint and an unused splint.

  2. 2

    Fasten, then check your toes

Close the instep strap firmly but not tight, then look at the end of your foot. If the toe is pale, cold or tingling, it is too tight β€” loosen it and start again.

  3. 3

    An hour, then build up

An hour on the first evening. Add time over a fortnight, and only turn the dial once the current setting is genuinely comfortable to sleep in.

Turn the dial no more than once a fortnight, and only when the current setting is comfortable enough to sleep in without noticing.

IN USE

Where it earns its place

Overnight
The way it is meant to be used, once you are past the first few short sessions.
Resting at home
An evening on the sofa, with the hinge letting the foot move a little.
Light indoor movement
Around the house β€” not for walking distances and not inside a shoe.
In a bag
Small and light, so a trip away does not have to interrupt a routine.

SAFE USE

What it does, and what it does not

The panel is the manufacturer own safety notice, and it is unusually straight for this category β€” including the line that this supports positioning and does not permanently correct a bunion. We agree, so it stays.

Before you use it

  • For resting use. Start at a gentle angle and increase it slowly β€” forcing the toe over does not speed anything up and will hurt the joint.
  • Do not overtighten. Stop and loosen it if you get pain, numbness, tingling, swelling, redness or skin irritation, or if the toe changes colour.
  • Ask a health professional first if you have diabetes, poor circulation, neuropathy or severe foot symptoms. Reduced sensation in the foot makes pressure damage easy to miss.
  • Do not wear it inside a shoe or for walking any distance.
  • Check the skin between the toes and along the side of the foot every time you take it off.

This is a comfort product, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or cure a bunion or hallux valgus, and no external splint permanently changes the shape of the joint. A bunion that hurts, or that is getting worse, is worth showing to a podiatrist or a doctor.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Questions people ask

Will this straighten my bunion permanently?

No β€” and the manufacturer says so too, in the safety panel in the gallery: it supports positioning and does not permanently correct a bunion. A bunion is a change in the bone and the joint, and no external splint reverses that. What this does is hold the toe in a more comfortable position while you rest. Buy it for the comfort, not for a cure.

Do I get one or two?

One splint, and it fits either foot. Some of the manufacturer photos show a two-piece set β€” that is a different option we do not sell. For both feet, order two; the second takes 10% off the basket automatically.

Can I wear it in shoes?

No. It is bulky and hinged, and forcing it into a shoe puts pressure exactly where you do not want it. It is for resting, sleeping and moving gently around the house. For daytime in shoes, our gel bunion sleeve is the one built for that.

How long until I notice anything?

Most people who get on with these notice the comfort while it is on before anything else. Expect no visible change in the shape of the joint β€” that is not what the product does.

Is this a medical device?

No. It is a comfort product. It does not diagnose, treat or cure a bunion, hallux valgus or any other foot condition. A painful bunion, especially one that is getting worse, is worth showing to a podiatrist or a doctor.

How does the multi-buy discount work?

It comes off on its own at checkout, with no code. Two items anywhere in your basket take 10% off, three take 15%, four take 20%. They do not have to be the same product or the same colour.

When will it arrive?

Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days and usually arrive within 7–12 business days after that; tracking is emailed as soon as the parcel leaves. If it is not for you, unused items can be returned within 30 days β€” email us first for the return address.
