Four things worth understanding before you order

This is not a compression sleeve with a logo on it. It is a mechanical device, and it helps if you know what the mechanism actually does.

Three springs, not one
A triple coil stack compresses as the knee flexes and returns force as you straighten. More springs means the load spreads rather than one coil doing all of it.
A flexible centre plate
The plate lets the hinge track the knee as it bends instead of fighting it, which is what stops the whole brace twisting off position at the bottom of a squat.
Four straps, two zones
Upper straps on the thigh, lower straps on the calf. Tightening them separately is how you stop a hinged brace sliding down, which is the usual complaint about them.
Soft lining under hard parts
The spring assembly is the point, but it sits on a lined, stitched wrap rather than directly against the leg.

HOW TO USE IT

Four steps, and readjust after you bend

    Centre the hinge behind the knee

    Sit down, bend the knee slightly, and position the spring unit so it sits behind the joint rather than across the kneecap.

    Wrap the upper straps around the thigh

    Firm, even tension, no twists. The upper straps carry most of the work of keeping the brace in place.

  3. 3

    Secure the lower straps, then bend and readjust

    Fasten around the calf, then bend the knee a few times and re-tighten anything that has shifted. Do not overtighten — stop use if numbness occurs.

Do I get one or two?

What do the springs actually do?

They compress as you bend the knee and push back as you straighten, so a little of the effort of standing up comes from the brace. How much you notice depends on your weight and how deep you bend. It is assistance, not a lift.

Will it fit my leg?

The four straps adjust across the usual adult range. The manufacturer does not publish a thigh or calf circumference limit, so if your legs are at either extreme, message us before ordering and we will ask the supplier.

Can I wear it under trousers?

Over leggings or slim trousers, comfortably. Under jeans, no — the spring assembly stands proud of the leg and needs the room.

How is this different from the knit knee sleeve you sell?

Different tools. The sleeve is fabric compression with side stays, thin enough to wear for hours under clothes. This is a mechanical hinge with coil springs, bulkier, and aimed at the moments you are standing up and climbing stairs.
