WHY THIS ONE

Four things the counter changes

Counting and skipping compete for the same attention. Hand the counting to the handle and the rhythm stops falling apart at forty.

A mechanical counter, not a screen
It counts rotations off the rope turning, so there is no app, no pairing and nothing to charge. It just works, every session.
Readable while you skip
Set into the top of the handle where you can glance at it without stopping. A counter you have to stop and check has not solved anything.
Soft sponge grips
Foam over the handle rather than bare plastic, which is what stops it turning in a damp hand halfway through a round.
3 m of rope to cut down to size
Long enough for almost anybody, and adjustable at the handle. Rope length is the single biggest reason skipping feels impossible.

HOW TO USE IT

Start with the basics

  1. 1

    Adjust the length

Stand on the middle of the rope: the handles should reach roughly to your armpits. Too long is slow and trips you, too short catches your feet.

  2. 2

    Note the starting count

Look at the counter before you begin so you know where the set started, and check the rope is secure at both handles.

  3. 3

Jump small and read it at the end

Low bounces, wrists turning rather than arms, clear space around you. Read the number when you stop, not during.

Set the length before the first session. It takes thirty seconds and it is the difference between skipping and tripping.

IN USE

Where it earns its place

A warm-up
Two or three minutes before anything else.
Interval work
Thirty on, thirty off, with each round comparable because the counter tells you.
Outdoors
A driveway or a park, on a forgiving surface rather than concrete.
In a bag
It weighs almost nothing and it is the cheapest conditioning tool there is.

Before you use it

  • Clear the space around and above you before you start β€” a rope at speed finds lamps, doors and other people.
  • Skip on a forgiving surface where you can. Concrete adds up on ankles, knees and hips.
  • Check the rope and both handle connections before every session, and retire a rope with a frayed cord.
  • Stop if you feel sharp pain in a knee, ankle or shin rather than general effort.
  • If you are new to skipping, carrying extra weight, or have a joint or heart condition, start with very short sets and talk to a healthcare professional first.

This is fitness equipment, not a medical device. Skipping is high impact. If you have a knee, ankle, hip, back or heart condition, or you are returning to exercise after a break, talk to a healthcare professional before starting.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Questions people ask

How is this different from the other counter rope you sell?

They are close cousins. The other one is a single colour with a slightly shorter handle; this one comes in four colours with a 3 m rope and a three-digit mechanical counter. If you want a specific colour, this is the listing.

How accurate is the count?

It counts rotations mechanically, so expect close rather than perfect. It is a training aid, not a measuring instrument.

How do I shorten the rope?

At the handle β€” release the cord, pull the excess through and secure it again. Check the length by standing on the middle first, and most people never need to cut anything.

Is it a speed rope?

Not really. A counter handle is heavier than a bare speed handle, so this suits steady sets and tracking rather than double-unders at maximum pace.

Can I use it on a mat?

Yes, and it is a good idea on a hard floor. The jump rope mat we stock is sized for exactly this and takes most of the noise out of it.

How does the multi-buy discount work?

It comes off on its own at checkout, with no code to type. Two items anywhere in your basket take 10% off, three take 15%, four take 20%. They do not have to be the same product.

When will it arrive?

Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days and usually arrive within 7–12 business days after that; tracking is emailed as soon as the parcel leaves. If it is not for you, unused items can be returned within 30 days β€” email us first for the return address.
