WHY THIS ONE

Four things bare feet and ordinary socks both get wrong

Studios ask for grip socks for two reasons: slipping and hygiene. Ordinary socks fail the first and bare feet fail the second.

Grip across the whole sole
A dense silicone pattern covering the ball, arch and heel, not a handful of dots under the toes. That is what holds a plank or a lunge on a smooth mat.
An open back
The heel strap leaves the back of the foot bare, so the sock stays put without gripping the ankle. It is also what makes them easy to get on and off.
Cotton, not synthetic
Breathable against the skin for a full class, which matters more in a warm room than any other single feature.

HOW TO USE IT

Three steps, and wash them cool

  1. 1

    Put them on before you step on the mat

    Heel strap over the back of the foot, toe section straight. The grip only works if the sole is flat under you.

  2. 2

    Test the grip on your surface

    Slide a foot deliberately on the mat or floor you will use. Silicone grips very well on rubber and less well on polished wood — worth knowing before a lunge.

  3. 3

    Wash them inside out, cool

    Cool water, no bleach, no tumble dryer. Heat is what kills a silicone grip pattern, and the grip is the whole product.

The grip is the product. Treat the wash instructions as part of the purchase rather than a suggestion.

Before you use it

  • Grip socks are not slip-proof. On a wet floor, a polished surface or a loose rug, they can still slide.
  • Check the grip pattern before each class and replace them once it is worn smooth.
  • Do not wear them outdoors — grit destroys the silicone quickly.
  • Do not tumble dry or iron them. Heat ruins the grip permanently.
  • If a sock feels tight enough to mark the ankle or foot, stop wearing it.

These are exercise socks, not safety equipment. They reduce slipping on a mat; they do not prevent falls, and they are not a substitute for careful movement on an unfamiliar surface.

What size are they?

One size, cut to fit most adult women. There is no published size range from the manufacturer, so if you take a very small or very large shoe size, message us and we will ask the supplier before you order.

Will they work on wooden floors?

They grip well on rubber mats and reasonably on wood. On polished or lacquered floorboards nothing grips brilliantly, socks included — test carefully before a fast movement.

How long does the grip last?

It depends entirely on how they are washed. Cool water and air drying and they last a long time; a hot wash and a tumble dryer can take the grip off in a handful of cycles.

Are they thick or thin?

Thin. They are made to feel like socks in a class, not like slippers, so you can still feel the mat through them.
